Person reviewing documents at a desk before dusk

Prepare your estimate

Gather clean records before we open Smart Crypto Calculator PC. The better the exports, the fewer incomplete lots on your schedule.

This guide is for clients commissioning an annual crypto tax gain estimate or an exchange history reconcile. Follow the steps in order; skip only what clearly does not apply to your year.

  1. List every venue Write down exchanges, OTC desks, and self-custody wallets that held coins during the tax year — including accounts you closed mid-year.
  2. Export full trade history Download CSVs for the entire year, not rolling 90-day windows. Keep original filenames so we can see which venue each file belongs to.
  3. Capture deposits and withdrawals Fiat and crypto transfer histories help us avoid treating internal moves as disposals. Include destination addresses when the export provides them.
  4. Note special events Airdrops, staking rewards, hard forks, and OTC desk fills rarely appear cleanly in standard trade exports. A short dated list is enough to start.
  5. Send a sample, then the full set Attach one month of exports with your estimate request. Once we confirm scope, upload the remaining files through the secure link we send.

What slows an estimate

When you are ready

Request an estimate and mention whether you also need a cost basis method review before the full run. We will tell you if a reconcile should come first.
